Unable to work out a deal before Wednesday Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) traded Olympic Gold Medalist James Harden. The Thunder also gained Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb plus two first round picks and a second round pick. Center Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward also headed to the Rockets.
After the trade when through Harden tweeted. “I would love to Thank Oklahoma City for 3 amazing years!”. Followed by “Teammates and Fans were thee best. The love will always be there. Thanks Again.”
We wanted to sign James to an extension, but at the end of the day, these situations have to work for all those involved. Our ownership group again showed their commitment to the organization with several significant offers,” OKC General Manager (Sam Presti) said in a statement.
Thunder gained an 18 point a night guy in Kevin Martin. they also gained the number 12 pick who lead the rockets scoring in summer league with 20 per game. Coupled with signing KD, Westbrook and Ibaka to long term deals, things still look good OKC out in the west.
Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin also took to twitter. “really sad to see Kmart and JLamb go,” Lin wrote. “…both class acts and great teammates. Welcome Harden, Cook, Aldrich and Hayward to Houston!!”
